Painting in Colored Light 3 day workshop with James Gurney
July 1st thru July 3rd 2011.
James Gurney is the author and illustrator of the New York Times bestselling Dinotopia book series. His most recent book, Color and Light: A Guide for the Realist Painter (2010) was the #1 best-selling art-instruction book on Amazon.com and is based on his blog gurneyjourney.blogspot.com.
3-day Workshop led by James Gurney.
"We'll learn how to see, understand, and capture the effects of colored light. This is vital experience for all landscape, portrait, and imaginative artists. Beginning by studying white plaster casts under colored illumination, we'll learn about additive versus subtractive color and the principles of visual perception. We'll practice painting the nude figure, and also the figure draped, and costumed model under a variety of combination of colored light sources. Explanations, discussion, and demos will start the morning session, and students will work in the afternoon. Plus, weather permitting, we'll do an optional sunset painting expedition along the banks of the Hudson River."
Space is limited to 15 Participants. Early registration encouraged!
Relaxing environment with light brunch and last evening dinner server
